Contract award - MOD chaff and flare equipment
23 October 2007
Petards announces that Petards Joyce-Loebl has been awarded a major contract by the Ministry of Defence.
The contract, worth over £1m, is for the supply of airborne chaff and flare dispensing equipment which will form part of an integrated defensive aids suite to be installed on rotary wing aircraft. Deliveries are expected to commence in early 2008 and should be completed by the end of that year. The defensive aids suite is designed to protect the aircraft from a range of ground launched missiles including shoulder-launched man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS) that are in widespread use throughout the world.
This is the latest in a series of contract awards received over recent years that have seen the equipment supplied for use on a wide variety of the UKs aircraft including the RAFs C-130 J and K transport aircraft, Merlin Mk.3, Chinook Mk.2, and Puma helicopters, the Royal Navys Sea King Mk.4 and Lynx helicopters, and the British Armys Lynx Mk.9 helicopters.
Petards Chief Executive Bill Conn said I am delighted that the Ministry of Defence has again selected Petards Joyce-Loebl to work with them on such an important project. This order together with the previous systems supplied has established Petards as one of the UKs leading suppliers of countermeasures dispensing equipment.
